ERKHAN ASKAR - URGENT FUNDRAISING FOR SURGERY TO RELEASE TETHERED SPINAL CORD

Erkhan was born with a complex developmental pathology called Spina Bifida.

From early childhood, he has undergone several surgeries, including surgery to close the Spina Bifida defect in infancy, shunt placement, and attempts to release the tethered spinal cord. Unfortunately, to this day, Erkhan suffers from severe consequences of spinal cord tethering. He experiences incontinence of urine and stool, and he finds it challenging to walk due to lower limb paresis. All of this is a result of nerve damage caused by the tethered spinal cord. Erkhan is now 13 years old, and it is extremely difficult for him, both physically and emotionally.

Imagine a 13-year-old boy who still wears diapers and uses urinary catheters to drain his bladder. Erkhan can be helped! He is scheduled for surgery in Israel to release his tethered spinal cord. The cost of the surgery is 29,000 USD.

The sooner the surgery is performed, the fewer irreversible consequences there will be, and the greater the chances of restoring lost functions.

HELP US WITH ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN!

Children’s neurosurgeons from Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital (Sourasky Medical Center) are ready to operate on Erkhan.
